Bubbles and other light things
A child blowing soap bubbles, balloons drifting over a field, a young musician in uniform. Photographs that feel weightless.
Some photographs are heavy with history or place. These are light, almost literally.
A child blowing soap bubbles is one of the simplest scenes there is, and one of the hardest to catch well: a bubble lasts a moment, and its colours depend entirely on the angle of the light. Hot air balloons over a green field carry the same feeling at a larger scale, things rising slowly and without effort.
Between them, a student in marching band uniform holds a saxophone, the kind of quiet pause that comes before or after a performance. And a glass of coloured drinking straws against a white wall, an ordinary object turned into a small burst of colour.
What connects them is a kind of play. None of these moments are important, and that is exactly why they are worth noticing.
